• Dermal filler injection is an office procedure and it’s non-surgical.
• Our cosmetic surgeons will evaluate your areas of concern; take a detailed medical and surgical history, drug history. It is imperative to mention which drugs you are currently taking since some drugs and supplements can enhance bruising and bleeding.
• Our doctors will then take photographs (before and after) of the areas to be injected, and discuss which type of filler is best for the areas.
• The treatment is done in a sterile environment; thus, all sterile measures will be observed.
• The area will be anesthetized with numbing cream prior to injection. However, the fillers also contain lidocaine which is a local anesthetic agent.

• Some patients may experience mild bruising or redness which is temporary and resolves in less than a week.

How long does the filler last?

 This depends on 3 factors: type of filler used, the area injected, and the patient.

Rule of thumb: the denser the filler product, the more deeply it will be injected and the longer it will last. Hyaluronic acid fillers can last 6-18 months. Fillers on the lips wear out faster than those on the nasolabial folds. Voluma which is injected on the cheeks can last up to 24 months.
